The Stewarts and the News

Daddy and I were sitting in a coffee shop the other day (I was taking a nap like a good boy and Daddy was reading) when a nice family from the neighborhood (the Stewarts) sat down next to us. I was sleeping, but I could sense that Daddy was excited to see them. For some reason Daddy was waiting for me to wake up before he talked to them. After one of my longest naps ever, I finally woke up and Daddy swooped me out of my stroller and propped me up on the table. The family looked over and Daddy looked back proudly. The Dad (Jon) asked how old I was and the Mom (Tracey) asked Daddy how he gets me to sleep so well (like he has anything to do with me sleeping). Daddy and the Stewarts continued to talk about babies and childcare (boring) . . . at one point, Jon was coaxing their son Nate to make funny faces at me to make me laugh (Jon seemed to enjoy it more than Nate). For me, it was a nice morning, but you'd think Daddy had met Elmo or Barney, he can't stop talking about it! I have to say, I think I have seen the Dad on TV . . .

Some other highlights from the week:

-- We went down to the World Trade Center site the day that they started to build the Freedom Tower. Daddy and I got interviewed for the news. They showed the interview on the 5:00 news and I was only on for 1 second! Probably because I was crying the whole time . . .

-- We went to Cleveland to see the family . . . I was nice this time and let everybody play with me!

-- Some other celebrity sitings this week: Whoopi Goldberg (buying some ugly art), Aaron Eckhardt (he's in Thank You for Smoking, which I've actually seen), Jeff Garland (the fat guy on Curb Your Enthusiasm) . . . sadly, none of these people talked to us.

Mini-Yogis

I started my Mini-Yogis class this week at the Nest. We didn't really know what it would be like, but it sounded different than Jump and Jive, so Daddy signed us up. The good news is that I got to roll around with and get massaged by a very pretty lady. The bad news is that Daddy was the only sap that fell for a yoga class for babies, so I was the only one in the class! We decided to switch to a class called The Environment, which is supposedly a feast for the senses. Most likely I will be rolling around and getting massages . . .

Here are some other highlights from the week:

-- I went to a first birthday party in Connecticut. There was a dude there with 6 fingers on one of his hands. He gave two thumbs up a whole new meaning!

-- We had another minor (very minor) celebrity experience . . . We were at the Nest (at Yoga) and we saw the lady who plays Margaret on West Wing (Leo McGarry's secretary). She thought I was very cute and wanted me to meet her daughter Shirley and her niece Nadene-- she thought they were the cutest names in the world. I was wondering if they were babies or grandmothers . . .

9 Months Old!

Daddy and I went to the Yankees game with some of his teacher friends
and I had a blast (for the most part). All was well and good until
Daddy's friend Lance caught a foul ball in the seventh inning. I was
excited for him at first (you don't catch a foul ball everyday), but
then the dude went nuts-- he started pumping his fist, screaming,
jumping up and down . . . I really wasn't sure what he was capable of
at that point, so I burst into tears, basically inconsolable for the
rest of the game. Every time the Yankees did something good, the crowd
started to cheer, and I started to cry. Maybe I should stick with the
Rockies . . .

Here are some other highlights from the week . . .

-- My new babysitter, Dolly, started this week. Apparently Daddy needs
some time to get a "real job" (personally, I thought I was real job
enough). Dolly is very nice and I'm even willing to let Daddy out of
my site when she is around.

--I started my new class, Jump and Jive. Not much jumping, just a
little bit of jiving, but overall, it was fun. At least this time
there were some other babies that could move around . . .

Hope you are enjoying some nice weather . . .

Love, Max

Immigrants and the Paparazzi

It has been a very exciting week in our neighborhood. Today, we were
walking down the street and all of the sudden a swarm of paparazzi
surrounded us saying "How's the baby, hows's the baby?" I was like,
"uh, fine I guess." Suddenly scrambling from behind us comes Blythe
Danner (Daddy said that's Gwyneth Paltrow's Mom, like I know who
Gwyneth Paltrow is). The paparazzi ran after her and we were left
alone on the street, back in obscurity. Who knows . . . maybe we''
show up in People next week?

Here are some other highlights:

-- we accidentally joined an immigration protest yesterday. We're just
walking down the street and we're swept up by people chanting "We are
America!" They seemed like they meant business . . .

- on a much less exciting note, I learned how to turn my mobile on and
off-- frankly, it has started to get irritating.

-- I tried some new foods this when Daddy took me out to lunch--
roasted peppers (tasty), bufala mozzarella (tasty), marinated olives
(not tasty).

That's is . . . enjoy the beautiful weather!

Love,
Max

Ambidextrous Pincers

I may not know how to say Mama or Dada, but I know that I can use my
thumb and my pointer finger to pick up Cheerios! It takes me an hour
to eat four Cheerios, but they sure are tasty . . .

Here are some other highlights from the week:

-- I loved spending so much time with Mommy before she started her new
job . . . we're so proud of her! She really knows how to bring home
the tofu (haven't tried the tofu yet, but I'm sure it's tasty)

-- We visited the Upper West Side three times this week . . . nice
place, even more Bugaboos, fun playgrounds. I'll go back . . .

-- Went to the swimming pool with Daddy . . . he dunked me twice and I
didn't even cry. I especially liked riding around the pool in the
inner tube. The lifeguard couldn't believe it was only my second time
in the pool . . .

Peace out . . .

Max

2's better than 1

Mommy has been home for the last couple of weeks and I've figured out
that I can pretty much get constant attention. One of them is always
there to pick me up, play with me, feed me, etc. Daddy said I better
not get used to it . . .

Here are some other highlights from this week:

-- went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art . . . Mommy's new boss said
that the Robert Rauschenberg exhibit was the greatest collection of
art he had ever seen-- I thought it looked like trash glued to a board
and painted over. Perhaps I haven't developed a taste for abstract
expressionism yet?

-- went to Central Park after the museum which was much more fun,
enjoyed swinging very much.

-- took a bath in the real bathtub like a "big boy" . . . I don't
think big boys take baths in 2 inches of water (if they take baths at
all?)

That's it for me . . . hope you have time to catch the Rauschenberg
exhibit in your town (not . . . )

8 Months Old!

Another month has come and gone! Time is flying and so did I this week
. . . Here are the highlights and my life's first lowlights:

Highlights:

-- went to Cleveland to visit the fam . . . we had a nice time but I
think they saw me as a real baby rather than their little angel.

-- signed up for a more advanced class at the nest called "Jump and
Jive." We're looking forward to some challenging activities.

-- saw Mom and Dad's stress relieved . . . seems like all is well in the world.

- had my 8-month bi-day . . . you'd think Mommy and Daddy could have
come up with a cake or something, but nooooooooo!

Lowlights

-- had my first cold . . . its very hard to suck my thumb with a stuffy nose

-- became a drooling monster . . . more teeth must be on the way

-- made Naniji sad when I wouldn't let Daddy out of my site

I guess life isn't always going to be perfect . . . it was good while
it lasted ;)

Hope all is well . . .

Love, Max

On the Move . . .

Mommy and Daddy seemed to be stressed out about something this week, but I'm just continuing to enjoy life (how could I not?).

Here are the highlights from the week:

-- my first tooth is coming in (I'm getting tired of Mommy and Daddy's hands in my mouth checking on it)

-- I went to my first class at The Nest, an indoor playground near our house. The class is called "On the Move," but I was the only one that could move. Everybody else just sat their like a bump on a log. Daddy said the class wasn't academically rigorous, so we might have to switch.

That's about all I have to report . . .

Wreaking Havoc

All of you know me as this sweet little baby that never does anything wrong . . . well, think again! As I get better at moving around and pulling myself up, I just can't help but pull everything else down. This week, I pulled down books, CDs, electronics, office supplies, even wine bottles! It's so funny to watch Mommy and Daddy chasing me around trying to maintain a pristine apartment.

Here are some of the other highlights from the week:
-- went to Denver to visit Grandma and Grandpa (they love me so much)
-- started to crawl up a flight of stairs (Mommy doesn't believe I made it up 3)
-- noticed my shadow (I can't seem to catch it)

Life is getting fun! Hope yours is too!

Where in the World is Max Amar?

It's been a busy two weeks full of weddings, travel, good food, and good friends . . . here are the highlights:

-- went to San Francisco for Kate and Jon's wedding . . . got to takemy first boat ride around Alcatraz and under the Bay Bridge.

-- went to Boston for Mariah and Gregory's wedding . . . too cold todo anything there but at least I can say I saw Boston from the car.

-- started real crawling (rather than lunge-style crawling)

-- started pulling myself up to a standing position (sadly, I have no idea how to get down yet)

--started pulling myself to a sitting position (I don't like to staythere long though!)

-- ate lots of tasty foods including asparagus, sweet potatoes, butternut squash (the foods I'm supposed to eat) and some even tastierfoods like spinach-artichoke dip, french fries, and refried beans (the foods Mommy and Daddy used to keep me quiet at restaurants)

-- turned 7 months old on 2/19 (still no big parties though)

It's a pretty good life . . . I hope you are all having as much fun as I am!
